hi

bought my IS 200 at the start of the month and am having a few problems. first some idiot driver has scuffed my back bumper, ive had a puncture and now my cd player is playing up. i turned it on this morning and it kept saying error. so i took out all this disks and there was condensation on all of them. i put them back in and the first 5 wouldnt work, was still saying error. got to cd 6 and it played. after that they all worked, which i found very strange. has anyone else had this problem. mines a 2001 Y SE.

I've had three replacement CD units on my W reg IS200 SE. Had all sort sof issues with CD's jamming.

On one occassion, the dealer told me that Lexus had made 26 mods to the unit due to previous problems. All down to fitting a 6-CD changer in such a small space apparently.

I asked the delaer what would happen if the unit went faulty AFTER the car was out of warranty and he said that they would fit a re-con unit for £150 rather than a new one at £3million (or thereabouts) - but that was over a year ago so I dont know how they'd play it now.

Anyway, the last unit has been in for over a year now and no further issues, so maybe they did iron out the early teething probs after all.

Same advice as the others here - go to dealer and ask for a replacement.

I've had the same problem regarding my Cd player in my Lexus is200 (2001reg) just will not allow cd to be put in.

spoke to my local lexus dealership and they just said book it in and the cd player will be sorted out under warranty.no questions asked!! :D they are aware of the problems with the cd player whether it is the error message or not accepting disks!!! :) and as quoted in an earlier posting Lexus have extended warranty for 5 years.9only from when the car was 1st registered!!

I did John, but I already had the new type. I think I read somewhere you get whatever you've already got, so if you have the older unit with the CD load at the bottom you'll get one of those, if you've got the newer top loading one you'll get that..

Think the connectors were different which is why you get what was already in the car?
