Knocking On Is200

Hi

I have a knocking on my IS200 coming from the drivers side front when I drive over bumps in the road.

I replaced both bottom ball joints but problem still persists can anyone give me any ideas what it might be.

shock absorber is a possibility. To rule out the brake caliper/pads apply the brakes lightly when going over a bump to see if this stops/alters the noise.

I don't think it's the pads as it only happens on the drivers side.

Just had it mot'd and it went through fine.

Only takes a few seconds to check though, pads/calipers can move around and make noise - MOT wouldn't detect it.

if it is knocking ONLY when u go over bumps rough rod then i would check the link between the end of the anti roll bar and the chassis.

I had a problem recently on my IS200 that potentially sounds very like what you describe. (The old thread is on this forum somewhere.). I tried driving over a bumpy road at 30mph, window down, gently braking with my left foot (right foot still firmly on the accelerator...) and the knocking went away totally.

Turns out I was missing the anti-rattle kit on the brake pads of all 4 wheels, and one set of pads had worn to the point where they were rattling. (Doesn't mean the brakes don't work properly).

This was pretty cheap to get my local dealer to fix for me. (Too lazy to work a wheel nut spanner these days)

Thanks for the advice I'll have a look at the pads and the anti-roll bar bushes at the weekend,
