Speaker Wires

Recommended Posts

This is one unsolve topic, If any one has done this on the IS200 sport the internal amp behind the glove box has two looms going to it. Does any one know what they are for and wich loom carries the speaker wires for the 8 speaker set up and the loom that goes to the factery head unit what are those wires for. Has any one got any lay out of this.

Thanks

I have chosen no to use any of the existing wiring. I am replacing Lexus unit with a Pioneer DEX-P9R, installing amps in the boot and running my own speaker wire. I don't think anyone has utilised the exisiting loom if they have replaced headunit on a Sport. I think Fargo may have a wiring diagram, and there is one over on IS300.net too I think

The connector for the speakers is the thinner one (with 16 slots).

Also contains power wires (for the whole system) + wires to nav system.

The fatter connector (18 slots) connects to the head unit.

Book shows 2 shielded groups (signal wires + power wires).

Note that head unit takes it's power from the amp.

Had a look a tredaugs internal amp today and found that there is 4 inputs into the amp, FR, FL, RR, and RL. What i cant figure out is would there not be a + and - for each input. If there was then could we not use the internal amp to power the speakers and just use the output ofthe aftermarket headunit to the input on the OEM amp.

If I cant find the answer to this then we will just bypass the amp and go straight to the speakers.

There's a common 'negative' signal wire shared by the 4 'positives'
