Are you able  to use a cycle carrier ?  If so what make?

Otherwise I'll have to have it poking out the boot!

Thanks

Yes, you are.

I got one for my 92 LS400 for about 35 quid. It can hold up to 3 bikes, and actually fits in such a way that your rear lights and number plate are not obscured. It was extremely well designed, and I took the car on motorway and there were no problems.

I'll check tonight what make and model I have, and get back to you.

Right found the brand - it's Peruzzo, and Italian brand, and much higher quality than the stuff sold in Halfords.

Take a look at this page (more expensive compared to my guess!). It's the High bike version that I bought (they picture it with an old E-class), but on the box it said suitable for LS400.

Hope this helps.
