Is 100Ron Fuel readily available in UK or even Europe? by reading a magazine article, i think Autocar or TopGear a while ago about grey imports saying some cars in japan need to run on this fuel, anything lower is not good for the engine & could damage it?? it includes JDM impreza STi & pajero GDi so how do people deal with this once these cars are imported to UK? i seen lots of these grey imports here. Would this apply to any grey import lexus like Aristo tt & Altezza RS200 are much quicker performance.

I normally use normal unleaded - 95 RON, but if I'm going pull some power out of the engine, I use Optimax - 98 RON with a couple bottles of the Octane booster. This may be a way round this, every 4th fill up, I put Optimax in to be on the safe side.

To be honest I ran a wrx import running 320 bhp for a 5 months, with optimax and millers octane boost = 100 ron and I could not tell the difference whatsoever, in the end ran optimax every 4 th full up the rest of the time it was tescos I am afraid.

Also a 400bhp skyline on Sainsbury’s fuel for 4 months

Remember marketing is a clever thing. Most ecu’s can alter to accommodate different fuel types despite what you are told; the parameters are wider than you think

Shell optimax has caused running problems in certain cars with hesitation poor starting etc etc and it’s not for everyone, 98 Ron over 95 Ron I doubt it could be measured effectively, a lot of its psychological

Turbo car are more prone to detonation with lower octane fuel with high boost but as I said I noticed no problem whatsoever and the skyline is running fine and pulling strong.
