Sc-430 Upgrade Opinions

After 3 years with my SC-430 I found it to be a classy, comfortable and 100% reliable piece of well oiled machinery. I recently bought a Saab 9-5 Aero Sedan for a full sized car and now see the glued to the road manners of the Saab vs the bounce and float of the Lexus.

My query from you well opinions guys is what can I do with the SC to get it to be more of a sportcar and less of a cruiser?

My first inclination is the RF tires..........yes, they are jarring as hell.......and ideas if this will help the sometimes numb at low speed steering> or directional stability?

All opinions will be welcomed. That in itself is the only gripe, I would have thought the with our high and small rear windown the SC would have had standard back up bumper sensors though.............

I think you should get rid of the RFs for a start. Lexus here in the UK stopped using those the year after the SC430 was launched.

May be worth posting your question on the US forums - here in the UK we have different suspension set ups.

Installing coilovers will improve the handling a lot.  After that you can consider underbraces and strut tower bars.

Define the term Coilovers?? Is this a specific part and if so who makes this. I complained to Lexus as supposedly the 2005 model has improved the ride, whether with another brand of RF tires in conjunction with the springs and shocks but not according to Lexus retrofitted to my 02 model.

Other than that the car is near damm perfecto.

SCs come with Dunlop SP2030 regular tyres here fitted as OEM. Dunlop tell me that this is a special version of the SP2000 series for the SC, that counters road camber pull you might get. So there are LHD and RHD versions. They perform pretty well in all respects except in snow - which shouldn't be much of a problem in GA!

I've got Dunlop SP9000 on the car at the moment. Seem to have marginally better performance but slightly noisier than the SP2030s. Wear rate is similar too.

Several Japanese companies do coilovers for the SC430/Soarer.

I know that Toms and Tein offers coilovers for this car. Not cheap, but i think your SC430 was not cheap as well

GREAT. Tom did well on the movie and car. If Derek here in Atlanta could find a road that quiet and try to drive a RHD car that way I would be grinning from ear to ear. Nice Hood Bulge for the Supercharger too.

Thanks for finding the clips.
