Ls400 Spark Plugs

Hi Guys / Gals,

I recently been given some Champion RC8PYP platinum spark plugs and told they're ok for my 1990 LS400. Can't get a reference that they are. Can anyone confirm that they're ok?

Carlo,

I'm sure they will work OK, but bear in mind that Denso iridium plugs were fitted as OE, with a projected life of around 100k miles (I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong). Platinum plugs, whilst far superior to 'ordinary' types, won't last like the iridium ones. But then they are much cheaper. I guess it all depends wether or not you're willing to replace the plugs every couple of years or so, which, let's face it, isn't exactly a 5-minute job on the LS.

You should use the Denso Iridiums for sure! I got some from Nippon Automotive in Cheltenham for about £60. Bargain, they will even post them to you.

NGK also makes iridium plugs. any iridium is far superior to Platnum. you can find them on eBay very reasonable.

Older Engine: Stay with OEM Platinum plugs (Denso SK20R11 ?)

And:

Nippon Cars = Nippon Parts!! = No problems!

You should never forget that.
