Rear Shelf Vibrations

Recommended Posts

I've got a Sub which I took out of my last car, but am thinking about putting in the boot of my Lex.

However, with just the normal speakers there seems to be a touch of vibration (which I can hear) coming from the rear shelf - especially when I turn the volume up.

A question for you people who already have subs fitted. How do I get rid of that blasted rattle ?? Would I have to Dynamat it, and if so how much do you reckon it would cost ?

im currently sound proofing mine at the moment, i find that the dyna mat stuff is far to expensive, used some stuff called brown bread, relatively cheap! but have found something real cheap and just as good!!!!! its called flashing tape, can buy it from any roofing specialist shop, its used to waterproof roofing joints or something like that, but it works well as sound proofing and is real cheap!!!!!!!

I have just dynamatted my whole boot, rear deck and under the rear seats. It took a lot more than I anticipated!! Just to do the rear deck, I would say 2-3 sheets and you can have it on both sides. I am mounting my subs in the rear deck (two 8's) and using 24mm mdf to mount the subs themselves (2 x 12mm), and then putting another 24mm underneath on the same bolts to reinforce things. I'm hoping that by using a single piece of mdf bolted to both mounts it will add enough rigidity to prevent vibrations.
