having spoken to TTE`s technician this very morning

about what the silver ecu does

at 50rpm before the rev limiter kicks in, it opens the bypass from the compressor, in order that when the fuel is cut, it is not under boost conditions

That doesn't make any sense to me Barrie :duh:

How can an ecu open something that is mechanical in operation?

no idea either mark

just relaying what the technician said to me,

although he was german he spoke perfect english

and i am sure that is what he said

at 50 rpm before fuel cut it backs the throttle valve off a bit.

so should never hit fuel cut.

I see, thank you Tony. Throttle valve not compressor bypass valve, that makes more sense.

Sounds like another reason not to use the silver ecu if your main priority is performance

Is everything okay Tony? What's happened mate?

Guys, what does a voltage clamp do exactly, why does the car need it if just extra air is being pushed into the engine, or does it only expect it to increase at a gradual speed?

Excuse my ignorance but that loses me a bit :unsure:

a sensor monitors intake air pressure and feeds this info to engine ecu.

normally it sees vacuum as engine sucks air in.

imagine the confusion caused by adding s/c or turbo.

ecu says... huh? wassup? +ve pressure... help... limp home....

the tte sub-ecu (black or silver) fiddles the signal so the engine ecu doesn't 'see' +ve pressure.

pretty much any add on turbo or s/c kit will have a similar gizmo.

any car... not just lexus.
