Racelogic Traction Control

I have dropped off my car this am into the safe hads of Mark @ TDI who are doing some upgrading work on my car (see sig). While I was there with a very small ammount of sales work by Mark  and a vast ammount of desire on my behalf I have asked them to upgrade the traction controll system to a Racelogic adjustable system, this should enable me to still have some serious fun but also be able to have more confidence in the wet / snow and generally dodgy conditions. Check out the link below:

Let me know how it goes, I'm not a fan of traction control but I'm kind of interested to see what its like on the IS. I've driven a few high power RWD cars - test drove a Ferrari 360 Spider and was much happier with the traction control off. I'm tempted because of the launch control though!

Dark,

I saw your car when I dropped mine off with Mark, I was due to have the manifold, boost upgrade and the induction kit but the welding machine is up the creek. The racelogic traction control is fully adjustable so you can set your degree of slip/drift, and it is the same one that Ferrari etc. use. I've got to go back to TDi whent he welding machine is abck in action so if your in the area come along and you can take mine out and see if you like the Tracion Control

Cheers

Si

P.S. Have you made any decision on the NOS?

I've looked at the racelogic web-site and it seems quite a nice feature on the adjusting side of things where you can set the degree of slip/drift. Are you going for the basic traction control or with some of the options? I'm tempted with the trac. control, adjustable upgrade and launch control, do you have an idea on how much the trac control will be?

Kieran,

I've gone for the one with all the options apart from the launch control. The adjustability is the biggest selling point for me, I can alter it depending on the road and weather conditions at the time. I'll u2u you the pricing details but Mark maybe able to give you a better idea.

If you want to give mine a go when it's done then your more than welcome

Cheers

Si

I've got the Professional system in my car but with hindsight, would have been just as happy with the basic adjustable. Don't bother with launch control because its pretty much a clutch burner and that's it! The adjustable system is supreme though. You can switch it off in dry conditions because you don't need it at all but I've driven in heavy rain with it on, and you can nail the throttle coming out of tight corners and feel the rear wanting to step out a little but the Racelogic kicks in and makes it fully controllable.

Its pretty much the best traction control system I've ever used if you occasionally want to have some fun without needing serious concentration on what you're doing.

I have already replaced the standard LSD with the TRD one. It works fine in dry conditions but the car can still be a handful when the road is very wet. As a matter of fact, I fitted the Racelogic after the new LSD and I found that the combination of both increased the threshold level of grip a lot higher. At the end of the day, even with an LSD, there are situations where both rear wheels can spin together. The LSD is only useful when there is a differential in wheel spinning. The Racelogic takes readings from all 4 ABS sensors and hence detects any difference in wheel movement between front and rear too.

I think the stock LSD can go in the menual gearbox but have read reports that some people have managed to get one into the auto box too, although I'm not sure how that can be done.

Why don't you get yourself a TRD LSD too? The performance is much better than stock and you'll probably even find that the price is very similar to buying a stock LSD from a dealer. Your best bet will be to contact Garage R in Singapore because they specialise in getting and fitting such stuff. Their number is +65 64539136.

stock LSD is half the price of an aftermarket item. However, the Lexus dealer here do not supply the LSD alone as they need the owner to change the whole differential assembly which will cost $$$ !
