Does anyone know if the pipe leaving the exspanion bottle is meant to go anywhere apart from just hanging within the engine bay. I've noticed recently that there is steam coming out from theis pipe when the engine gets hot, also noticed that the bottle is now starting to run dry along with the rad meaning thje engine starts to cook itself. The pipe did hang from just under the drivers side wing. Three are 4 rads in the car and was wondering if one of these connected to the pipe.

That pipe generally does go no-where, it's to allow air to escape from the expansion tank as it fills / empties.

Your expansion tank shouldn't be empty though - sounds like maybe you;ve got a problem there.

I'm thinking the same thing, it only started a few weeks agobut has been getting worse. I've only been putting water in untill I can sort out the problem, this morning I put anti-freeze in aswell and will be trying to bleed the system later, hopefully this will cure the problem.

If you're having to top it up then the water must be coming out somewhere mate!!

I was some-what hoping that the waterpump hadn't gone, anyway top it up and spent about 2 hours topping up and bleeding the system, so far everything has gone OK but will not know untill tomorrow, if the pump has gone, that would explain way there has been presure build up causing the steam, the water has been super heated and escaped as steam. Will see tomorrow if the rad and tank is empty. If so, exspensive :flaming: :flaming: :flaming:
