New Parking Law

In the paper Yesterday I read that there is a new law coming out..

..apparently if you are parked, but still have your engine running, you will be fined £20 by a parking attendant. So this doesn't actually apply to if you're sat in traffic. As far as I could understand this is just if you have parked your car in a Car Park, or on a High Street, a parking attendant/traffic warden could now fine you £20 for polluting the atmosphere.

I wonder if they will categorise the fines, such as by engine size, age of vehicle, whether it's a petrol or a diesel.......

I think it's a good idea ............ why would you leave your engine running if you were idle somewhere any way ?

It's probably mainly for the type of people who sits outside the shops whilst there other half rushes in to buy something, and they're just sat outside for a couple of minutes so they don't bother turning the engine off. But I must agree this is one law that actually seems to make a bit of sense. I actually thought £20 was quite a small amount compared to what they usually charge on fines.

What if its sub-zero degrees outside & you want to stay nice & cosy whilst waiting for your 'pick-up' :tomato:

Keep your engine ticking over, keep the heater running, and floor it if you see a parking attenday/traffic warden person.

Or what if your sat there with a power sapping amber beacon on your car ?? Are you supposed to let the car Battery die?

It is an interesting idea, but they realy should be targetting the litter louts who just chuck their rubbish and fag ends out of the window!

It is unfortunate that sanity rarely prevails when such legislation is made
