Hi

Was looking for some advice on when to change the cambelt on my 99 IS200 SE Auto.

I have just had a 60K Service (£260 inc mot with an independant mechanic!!!)

Would it best to get lexus to do the cambelt change if needed?

How do you know when it needs to be changed?

Look forward to hearing from you.

ps. this is a fantastic site for people that love their car but dont know the first thing about the mechanics - its very reassuring.

100k or 6 years; whichever comes first.

Regarding where to get the belt changed, I'd say it depends on if you can afford to get your timing/cambelt changed by Lexus. Do you have a full Lexus service history, ie: all services done by Lexus at the correct times?

You should be able to find a good local independent garage in your area if you don't want to pay Lexus labour rates!

Its 100K or 6 years which ever comes first!

And get the Belt done, along with a new roller and pin! costs about £75 from Lexus dealer for the parts! Labour varies from dealer to dealer!

Or you could get an independant garage to do it!
