have a 00' gs300 and want to convert halogens to HID. i know u should get an HID housing. but if i stick with the halogen housings will the HID bulbs melt them or are safe to use? My gs is spectra blue and i want blue/purple HIDS and i found a 12000k kit by HELIOS on autoaccessorystore.com. I know that it will be less light output but was wondering if that temp is too hot for housing. also should i do fogs in the 12000k instead and the lows in white.

colour temp is not the same as bulb temp. so you should be ok, the HID lights  are lower wattage than halogen bulbs so produce less heat but as you know the light from the 12000k kit will be less than your standard halogen bulbs

anybody have any pics with HID'S in their GS. If so what temp?
