Hid Bulb On 1998 Ls 400

Hey guys, I'm a new member as well as a new Lexus LS 400 owner (1998 w/over 100,000 miles). I've had my LS now for about a month, and I am extremely, extremely please with this car. This car is very luxurious as well as a female catcher!! However, just over the weekend the headlight on the driver's side went out. I pulled it out and tried to replace it at AutoZone, the guy said they do not carry that and I could only get it at the dealer for about $300.00?!! Wow. I realized now that it is a HID Xeon bulb and the mechanic at the dealer said it was in fact $300.00 and $50.00 to install. He also said he would have to order the bulb (2to3days). WOW, what a dilemma - Is there a cheaper alterative? And also, I want to install new bulbs for the fog light - any suggestions.

One suggestion is to not take the bulb out yourself again as it could kill you

The power running through these systems is incredible so get someone qualified to change the bulb. You can source bulbs after market but they are still expensive.

You may also find that the colour of the light output has changed over the years so if you replace one bulb it will not match the other one.

I believe Philips do HID bulbs that are made to match old bulbs so you don't have to change both of them.

You should be able to get a bulb for around $100-150 and should be able to fit it yourself. Just make sure the lights are turned off!
