Bodywork Repair

Hi guys,

The other day some idiot reversed into my 200 sport.

I told my insurance company that I wanted it repaired at my local Lexus dealer.

The next day they rang me back stating that my local Lexus dealer doesn't have a bodyshop and that I should take to a specific bodyshop suggested by them.

Does this sound right ???

I was hoping that Lexus would oversee the work even if they used an outside bodyshop, also I thought I might get a courtesy car from Lexus.

You should get an "equivilant car" from the body shop it goes to.

I would also inform the bodyshop that it goes to, that you will be taking the car to "Lexus main dealer " to have their work checked / inspected. Any damage (that is recorded) will affect resale value so it must be done spot on.

I would also ask your Lexus dealer who they send their bodywork repairs to?

Then ask the insurance company will they allow that to happen?

I had a similar thing recently. The Lexus dealer told me they used the Toyota bodyshop (about 10 miles away) and would have to deal with them - that was all the contact I had with Lexus.

Overall I was pleased with the work, and some of their people had actually gone to work at that bodyshop from Lexus.

The courtesy car I got was a Yaris though...

Nah, I was really impressed with the service I got there. I would say it was on par with Lexus reputation, but with the amount of Lexus cars in there when I was there I'm not suprised!

My local Lexus dealer uses a Toyota, Lexus & Audi specialist accident centre and after much ringing around this morning, between them, Lexus and my Insurance company, It has now been agreed that I can use this accident centre, but my insurance won't supply a courtesy car as I'm not using an appointed garage.

So I took the car over to the accident centre (28 miles away). First impressions of the place are pretty good, reception is almost as good as Lexus, lets just hope the results are as good.

The only downside is that all the courtesy cars they have are Micra's. Also I've got to sort out my own cover on the courtesy car.

I can't beleive all the hassle that's come from a minor bump which wasn't even my fault.

Yes, that's the sam scenario as me. As long as you are happy with the service and work done is all that matters in the long run. I refused to use my insurer's approved garage because they were rubbish the last time I had an accident.

I didn't mind having to sort things with the repairer and my own cover for the courtesy car and having to drive a a Yaris for two weeks once I saw they did a good job. Will definately use them again should I have to do another insurance claim but hopefully I won't need to!

My accident wasn't my fault either, by the way... but I'm still waiting the insurance chasing up the other party for my money back!

Hope they do a good job for you, mate.
