Totally Stumped............

Right, I have a 95 GS300 and am having a problem with the audio system. For some strange reason, when I turn it on the volume is really quiet, almost non existant, irrelevent where the volume control is. If the ignition is on it stays like it. If the ignition is off, it gradually gets louder. Once it gets back to normal and I turn the ignition/engine on, it goes quiet again.

I would appreciate some help as this is driving (no pun intended) me batty.

I have a similar problem.. but not as intense

My system is quiet... it bearable but after an hour it gets a little louder.

I have to wind the stereo on full volume.

I suspect its an amp problem

Sounds to me like an earthing problem with the amp - or possiblt a resitive fuse.

If it was me, I'd start by pulling all the connectors to the power amp and puishing them back on again - there could be a bad contact somewhere.

Also pull and reseat the fuse to the amp - better still swap it with another.

If you have a voltmeter - meter the - 12V to the amp and see if it drops when the ignition is on.

Do you have SatNav?? - the mute circuit may be faulty - same goes if you have a phone kit installed.
