Wow! I'm on 31, you're on 40 to 52?

Sounds like one of those would be dangerously out. Now I'm worried, but I'm reluctant to even try to put 40 never mind 52 into my tyres.

Seriously confused . . .

Or could this be why the ride is not quite as smooth as I would like it to be (or is that the other way round)?

Verrry interesting! Do the Pirellis cause more road noise? (Can you GET Dunlops in that size?) I guess it depends on what you want from a car this size. Is it bought by folk who want the comfort? Can't see TOO many sub-30s BMW aspirants after a LS 400, so 'dynamic' handling not so much a priority. Anyway, the standard car handles pretty well already, in the odd times, post United win, when elated I whizz home a bit more 'dynamically' from the pub...sorry, TV lounge. :)

OE Dunlops very quiet so Pirelli's slightly worse, but not bad. As I said, developed for Jaguar so well suited to Lexus.

The DHP wasn't meant to be super sporty, just look better and be a little sharper and more agile. However, people took to it and at one point it was making up 25% of LS sales !

For use in the UK, always use the 4 people, up to 100mph figures - those superhigh values are 5 people plus luggage at max speed in Germany.

I suggest: 225/60x16 set at 30 psi F+R, 235/45x17 set at 33 psi F+R and 245/50x17 at 33 psi F+R for cars up to 99. Add 3 psi for "sporty driving" or speeds over 100mph.
