felt like a change, so bought a toyota starlet gt turbo (EP82)

thought it would be a fun and cheap project

well its certainly fun :whistling:

1300cc turbocharged 4efte

130 @the fly as standard

weight 830kg

first things first it needed to breath properly

de-cat downpipe

de-cat 2.5" stainless exhaust

med_gallery_4887_22_563300.jpg

then it needed to be fed properly

walbro 255l/h fuel pump

sard rising rate fuel regulator

dyno`d at janspeed 130@the wheels (bit of improvement ! )

then it needed to handle better

set of D2 fully adjustable coilovers

whiteline anti lift plates

whiteline camber bushes

med_gallery_4887_22_485710.jpg

med_gallery_4887_22_586545.jpg

with the original 14" alloys getting reserved for track day tyres, it was time to get a set of 15" everyday road wheels shod with some toyo proxes , along with some anodised lightweight nuts

med_gallery_4887_22_162848.jpg

then something just to bling up the engine bay (to be fitted)

med_gallery_4887_22_187919.jpg

few interior bits added

HKS boost guage

momo alacantra steering wheel

rear roll cage

trd quick shift and proper bearings to replace the rubber bushes (to be fitted)

willans harnesses

now turbos like to suck on fresh air

pipercross induction (thanks mat)

front mounted intercooler

freeflow stainless manifold (to be fitted)

med_gallery_4887_22_320066.jpg

gallery_4887_22_51611.jpg

and sparks ! all cars like sparks

8.5 magnecor ignition leads

ngk iridium plugs

and for a bit of control

greddy e-manage (to be fitted and then mapped)

HKS actuator

and what else do turbo`s like, yes cool oil

med_gallery_4887_22_384675.jpg

so far thats about it, all fitted on a wet and cold drive, as the lexus wont let it in the garage

still a few bits to do, a bit of tidying up here and there

and maybe a turbo upgrade at a later date

few pics from this weekend at a **5 club meet

You've fitted a four-post lift to the wheels?

actually i lightened it so much that it floats ....about an inch up in the air

took two mechanics to stop it floating away :D

I love it! :D ...... we went from a screen result looking like a scene from the film 'Oops is that the pin from my Grenade'........ To discussing what sort of handling Bazza wanted from the car.

Loads of adjustment and a turning radii so fast you can see the back of your own head during a turn :shifty:

Oh and a lovely car when you see her in the flesh....!... appart from the Exhaust... that i hit my head on seveeeeeral times :tsktsk:

was only running 0.6 bar at the pod

with no boost controller it is quite willing to run at 1.3 bar now, but isnt too safe untill the fuel and management is sorted

so generally is kept at 1 bar for the supermarket trips

another chapter :D

the starlet went on a diet !

seemed to be carrying a bit of excess baggage

so off with the air con

med_gallery_4887_22_323256.jpg

and anything else that was in the way :o

med_gallery_4887_22_248081.jpg

now i found this heavy thing hanging on the front of the engine

so off with it !!!

med_gallery_4887_22_392348.jpg

mmm.....maybe not the best idea, leaves a big empty gap, and dont know why it seemed a bit slower !

med_gallery_4887_22_202366.jpg

any way it was out ....

so a quick check, new HKS actuator fitted, oil lines cleaned out, water lines cleaned out

checking for cracks, none found, no shaft play, in fact seems in bloomin good condition

whilst out all brackets for air con removed, and brackets for old decat removed, these brackets are cast iron and weigh a fair bit,

oil change, oil filter change, as this is a pig to to with turbo in place

then put it all back together

main reason for removal was to fit the new freeflow manifold, which was fitted, and everything reassembled, all went well untill the manifold/turbo bolt decided to shear off, :shutit:

so disassembled once again and refit original manifold !!, new manifold is now going to be sent back for evaluation and a new stronger one is on its way

oh well was all good fun ;)

med_gallery_4887_22_447767.jpg

picture also show the new aluminium civic type r radiator, re plumbed and brackets fabricated to fit radiator and fan

all topped up with toyota anti freeze :D

oh and the oil cooler didnt fit, sandwich plate was just a little bit too big, is a tight squeeze in that area

so got to try and find a smaller plate ;)

:)
