Good work Barrie :D

The stainless over braiding is quite abrasive and can "saw" through things, so it would be worth while considering spiral wrap for the hoses to protect peripheral components.

PLEASE tell me you have connected the remote oil filter pipes correctly. We saw an engine seizure a couple of weeks ago due to a garage installing one of these incorrectly by not realising that there is a one way valve inside the filter.

yep all flow and returns checked :D

will be double checked, then triple checked when the oil pressure meter is connected

the filter head, the divertor, the adaptor plate were all marked with arrows :)

the hoses will be secured and where necessary wrapped, youre not kidding about it being abrasive ! my hands are still sore

well the latest installments are now all fitted

easy peasy ............

ym1ubo.jpg

looking up

ym1ubt.jpg

ym1ubr.jpg

ym1ubv.jpg

managed to fit it all in :o .........with a little bit of work ;)

had to:

cut and realign the exhaust to mate with the new downpipe, this involved welding ...something i had never done before !!, but hey ho never to old to learn :D

then do it all again as i didnt measure enough times

realign turbo oil feed

realign turbo water feeds

fit new radiator and fabricate a housing for the fan

fabricate a bracket for the downpipe brace

fabricate brackets for the new radiator

realign turbo water feeds after finding the wastegate brace needed their space

cut and reweld intercooler pipework to meet new turbo position

scratch my head trying to work out where the filter was going to end up(eventually deciding on a temporary position straight below the turbo (this however turned out not such a great decision)

fabricate internal wastegate clamp

heat wrap screamer pipe

watch heat wrap fall off !! :crybaby:

finally top up oil, fill up with anti freeze

and guess what it started first time :D

took it for a test drive (private road of course)

the power is fantastic, slightly more laggy but as soon as it hits boost its like a rocket

stops dead on 0.95 bar, no creep at all

all was going fine

until ...a smell of burning !

and a little bit of smoke !

opened the bonnet to find oil sprayed everywhere :crybaby:

suspect there is a leak through the oil cooler pipework as it seems to originate from the front, hard to know where exactly as everythings covered in oil

oil pressure remained ok throughout

air filter is now covered with oil !!!

oil to the left of the engine bay

oh well another weekend working on it coming up
