Rx350 Or 400h?

Recommended Posts

RX350 will be available Europe in March. RX300 is obsolute, you cannot even order one anymore.

RX350 has 276HP and 0-100km/h time is 7.8s so it is somewhat faster than RX400h. RX350 should have 6-speed transmission and the new generation navi like in IS250. RX350 may have the keyless entry as well.

RX400h will probably be updated soon with 3.5L engine (-> RX450h ?) and get new navi and keyless entry.

Now that will be interesting...and will also depend on how much better they get the economy on the RX350 over the RX300's...

With the performance gap closed between the RX350/RX400H think things to look at will be;

1. Difference in cost..RX400H probably still more expensive.

2. Whether they fit the latest traction control / stability gubbings to the RX350.

3. Whether you live in london..RX400H exempt from congestion charge.

4. Residuals.

Guessing the instant torque from the RX400h might be more impressive but will might be a lot closer than before against a RX300...

In end either will be a brilliant car.....nice problem to have, choosing between them that is....

Any news as to when the RX 400h will receive minor (or major) changes? When does the new model year production start?

  • 11 months later...

2007 models have the new Multi Media system I believe.

Apologies if this has been asked before but just how much of a proper 4wd is the 400h?? I know the RX 350/300 isn't exactly a LR Disco but it does split power front to rear via a driveshaft. Does the 400h do this or is it effectively front wheel drive??

In theory I would say about the same if not a little better in the 400h if the software was programmed correctly has you have more control and better low down torque.

You wouldn't need much power in snow/mud so the size of the motor shouldn't be a problem.
