Sat Nav Voice - Is It Supposed To Mute The Stereo?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've just got a 2000 Is200 with CD-based Sat-Nav. Very happy with the Sat-Nav, but the one thing that surprised me is that the Sat-Nav voice does not mute the stereo, so I have to always keep the stereo down low-ish so I can hear the voice directions.

I assumed this was normal, and can live with it, but reading some posts here gave me the impression that the Sat-Nav should mute the stereo whilst giving voice directions.

Can anyone please tell me if the Sat-Nav is supposed to mute the stereo? If it is supposed to, then mine must be dodgy, so any advice to diagnose the problem would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Paul

Yep, exactly the same on the IS (only driver's side speaker mutes).

Just increase the voice volume if you want. I think you press Menu and then you can twist the knob on the sat nav controls to increase/decrease.

the sat nav doesn't mute all the speakers in the IS, but attenuates the fronts, yes, you can turn up the volume of the navi voice as mentioned in this link. so i don't think theres anything wrong with yourone, but to get the updated disc which should be available from lexus dealers as from Jan 03, as i been told by my local dealer.
