Chantelle Is Dead!

For those that havnt heard by the time you read this.......the Lex could well and trully be dead!!!

I lost it on the M4 J42 joining road on the bend on some oil (no i wasnt playing) and the car did a complete 180 and ended up backwards into the barrier.

Very lucky really......as another 20 feet and we would have missed the barrier and ended up in the middle of the M4 with traffic coming!!

Feel a right d1ckhead. Lizzy was in the car and has got whiplash and a bump on the head, and ive got a very bruised ego!!

Cops and RAC turned up, breatheliser, producer, took note of the oil and said they wont be taking it further as there was no one else involved and they could see it was an accident.

Pics to follow leter. Fingers crossed for the insurance.

OMG its bad news im affraid......The Lex is dead

Estimate for repair = £3900

Book price = £4500

And seeing as insurance companies normally go upto 70%of car value in repairs, its very doubtfull I'l be getting her back to drive again

However........i will be buying her back if its not too much money and stripping the guts out of her and selling whatever i dont need, cause you know what car i'l be getting next , and i might just be able to strike evens there abouts.

I'l let you know as soon as I find out for def but dont hold ur breath on seeing her again

Ouch, The most important thing is your both OK, the car can (and probably will I hope) be replaced. Your right in the fact it could of been a lot worse.

Daft question but did you get a pic of the oil, or offical acknowledgement from the Officer who attended. If so contact the Highways agency, you might be able to claim against them, just enough to boost the pot for a new Lex ! (worth a try, I think)

Hard look mate.

Its a shame really that it costs so much to repair, what is a fairly straight forward repair and so it gets w/o (if it does).

You must hold out for every penny though, they should pay you enough to buy the equivalent car. Insurance co's are t**ts though.

Next time get GAP insurance when you buy one, I am sure you know, but if the car is written off this pays for the difference between what you get paid out and what you actually paid for the car.

Its not particularly cheap, but if you have a bad track record like I had, then its a comfort.

Hope it all works out for you.

Bet it was a bit hair raising to say the least. Glad that it was only a few cuts'n'bruises kinda thing though.

So what was your actual insurance company's offer though?

Cheers for the coment

For everyones info my daughter named her that not me :shutit:

Well here an update......got hold of a curtesy car and went to the garage in question where its being held in Cardiff. The repair bill is £1500 for parts, £1800 for labour and £600 VAT !!!! Just waiting on the insurance company to tell me if they are going to write it off or authorise the repair (I know the chap at the garage and he's going to see what he can do to persuade them :winky: ). And yes thankfully I do have GAP policy.....pheww!!

Unfortunately I didnt get any pics at the time of the road or oil, but i do have my girlfriend as a witness and my mate and his girlfriend who turned up at the crash site just before the police as witnesses to the condition of the road. Even the police said if theres any probs we'l give statements as to the oil.

But check this out........the following morning, the 50mph speed sign leeding into the corner was replaced by a 30mph!!! WTF?? Ive tried getting a reply from the highways for why but having no success, plus the black and white chevrons going around the corner were nicked the night before :excl:

Anyway, Ive been looking on eBay, some importers, and checking out my local exchange mart and yeah the going prices are abit more than what I'l get from the insurance and GAP to cover another car, anyone have any ideas as Im allready upto my eyeballs in depts after my divorce last year, and at the mo its looking like the dreaded HP :crying:

Thanks again guys and Il still be seeing you all at Coombe for Japfest :D

OMFG you are not going to believe this !!!!!!

Ive finally got out of hospital yesterday after having my ankle stapled back together and got round to sorting the letters that came through in the post.

Came across a letter from my car's insurance firm.

quote "We are sorry to have to be in communiction following your unfortunate incident and after being examined by an independant examiner, we unfortunately have to tel you that your car will not be repaired. However, a cheque will be in the post shortly blah blah F*CKING BLAH!!!!

What the hell!!! I thought it was being repaird!!!!

20mins and a very heated and censored fone call to the insurance company later, it turns out the the person I spoke to last Thursday told me completely the wrong info when she had the correct info in front of her on the screen!!!

My dilema now follows............

I have GAP insurance on the HP agreement so all will be whiped clean.

I dont have enough money or credit rateing to get another car.

The car has been taken to a scrappy for selling/dissasembling.

The car still has in it the CD stereo, Digital Radio Receiver, 0 Guage wiring kit for the speakers and the Toad alarm.

A cheque for £5600 is on its way.

Still owe close to £5000 for HP

Dont need a car for atleast 6wks anyway

What do i do now?

I was thinking about not telling the HP company about it being written off and keep makeing payments and use the money to get another car. However Im pretty sure that they will get to know about it because of info being passed from insurance co and scrappy.....and besides....thats fraud!!!

So what the hell do i do?

Help guys
