:) I have enjoyed ownership of my GS300 Sport since January 2000. Two years ago I had the bonnet resprayed by my local dealer Ryburn in Cardiff, as there were some serious stone chips that needed attention. I have now noticed that the lacquer finish is peeling off in two places on the bonnet about the size of a 50p piece.

Has anyone any similar experience?

Can you explain why it has occurred?

How did you sort it?

I have been in touch with the dealer and they don't want to know!!

My IS200 was in the bodyshop 3 weeks ago having a scratch repaired on the nearside rear. When I got it back I noticed the clear coat had started peeling away from the rear of the nearside front wing at the door line. I took it back to the bodyshop today and suggested that their pressure washer had caused the problem. They said it wouldn't have occurred had the paint been properly prepped prior to clear coating, forgetting entirely that they were responsible for spraying that wing only last year :D Now being repaired FOC...hopefully correctly this time.

Could even be the result of bird poop which has been left on your bonnet to eat into the laquer. Just a possibility

Welcome to LOC by the way! :D

Thanks for the idea, however I took the car to a paintshop down here and they said that the respray had not been prepped properly prior to applying the clearcoat. I will return to the dealer and we'll see!

Thanks for your wellcome

Thanks for your input. I will go back to the dealer again and have another go. Failing that I will contact Lexus direct
