Didn't Sell The Is200 Didn't Buy The Is250

Recommended Posts

Update on my previous post where I said I'd sold my IS200 and bought an IS250.

Basically I haven't !!

Not impressed :tsktsk:

It's got to be said

I had agreed a deal and signed an order on Monday. :)

There were some stone chips and two scuffed wheels on Monday on the IS250 these were written on the order to be fixed and I had added "Subject To Site".

The dealer put on a "new" set of wheels one had scratches and one had a scuff. :( One big paint chip had been repaired and the others are all still there. :( Plus I noticed a scratch across the bonnet today about a foot long not deep but should not be there. I didn't notice this on Monday as the car was not clean.

So to cut a long story short I refused to have the car.

Really dissapointed and annoyed.

It's also cost me an insurance transfer and two insurance administration charges in addition to a round trip of 160 miles today.

To be fair the dealer has refunded my deposit but that's not the point.

Sorry Lexus but you have failed again to meet a customer's ( not unreasonable ) expectations.

I know Ford are just as bad, one guy just picked up his new Focus ST. the PDI said it had a spare wheel, when the guy checked, it didn't! Heaters were faulty as well, despite being ticked as ok.

All stealers are as bad as each other!

:offtopic: Indeed Ford are having a right time with the ST3. It seems that they too are riddled with minor faults. Again it seems the first production line are naff thing is though sales are back dated well into 2007! One chap over on the MK V register reported a blown turbo!!

I personally am not that keen on them.

I would be naffed off too Steve.

Seems like a frustrating process, but if you're happy with the dealer you normally use for service, I wouldn't give up on Lexus and the car you actually want because another dealer has messed you about. Just start looking again and I'm sure the right car will be just round the corner :)

The S K O D A was a half hearted joke to try and bring me out of my utter dissappointment.

Really don't know where I will go from here. If a Lexus dealer can't present a car that is less than 5 months old in an acceptable condition what hope is there?

Actually the latest 2006 Octavia is receiving good reviews and beat the IS200 in a recent owners survey !

Looking on Parkers (yes I know) the residuals are not that bad either.

For 19K you can get everything exept the kitchen sink

Yeah but the sort of owner that drives a skoda is probably just satisfird cause they're surprised that it has so many gadgets etc and isn't looking for a real drivers car or they'd have gone for something completely different. I wonder how many are satisfied cause they've had a lexus or bmw before and find the handling etc as good on the skoda.

Just seen this post mate - ! However...

"Sorry Lexus but you have failed again to meet a customer's ( not unreasonable ) expectations. "

Well I would have said it's the dealer that's let you down and not the brand/Lexus...looks as though they haven't stuck to their end of the deal...

You did the right thing by walking away. Good luck with whatever you do...and don't give up...the car sales area's are still like grave yards and this time of the month (and the year) is a good time to do a deal!! There are loads available.

OFF TOPIC - I've got a 250 SE as a courtesy car today (whilst mine is in for it's "fix"), and I must say I'm impressed with the drive.

Like I say - "chin up", I had my downs but am now really enjoying what is actually a fantastic car - 700odd miles last week alone ave 44mpg!!
