Newbie here from norway!

How you all doing? :D

im currently looking into getting a late 90s to early 2Ks IS300 sportwagon, IMPORT from japan.

Reason? Im a carfanatic, my girlfriend wants a baby.....! :duh:

As i drive a turboconverted( mazda GT-R engine) 280bhp Mazda Astina(323F) now, i cant go any lower on the power... thats just not right..! so, i have to find a bigger, more powerful car!

a Few Qs about the IS300.

Engine:

What is the name of the engine used in the non-turbo IS300 sportwagon? 2jz-ge? 2jz-gte...? argh, i read about it somewhere, but cant seem to find it.... The engine im looking for, is the 214 or så bhp 3 litre.

Is this engine the same block as the Supra non turbo engine?

Is the internals in this engine, the same as the non-turbo supra?

In norway, we do a 550-600 bhp greddy conversion on stock non turbo internals, 2 years guarantee no problem...

Auto Gearbox and drivetrain:

This is a 4wd car, right? or rwd? do they come in 4wd? in japan?

Has anyone put some serious strain on the auto box and drivetrain?

I have plans for a single turbo greddy setup, same as done on the supras here in norway(passing 500bhp mark, creaping towards 600).

How much power can the sportwagon gearbox, clutch and drivetrain hold?

What is the weak spots?

Are there any mods easily accessible, to help the box and drivetrain?

sorry, the norwegian vehicle administration people/thingy wont register it as streetlegal.

for ex. the soarer isnt roadlegal in norway, but has been granted a limited streetlegalness in a motovehiclebased reason, meaning like... 5 cars limited streetlegal, can only be driven 5000km a year or so, and the prossess of getting it legal, is long, hard and difficult...

the is300 came out in europe, and is TUV approved, wich is good enough for the norwegian vehicle approval people.......

as long as the car has TUV papers, its all good.

if not, or you have a car that never came with a turbo, and trying to turboconvert it, getting it streetlegal is almost impossible!

result, lotsa ppl driving around in non-leegal cars, giving ***** about the rules....

And they know the ppl that do the MOT on the car, so they get the engine and mods through, no problem...

norway sucks ***** when it comes to getting cars streetlegal...!
