Hi Folks

Has anyone "chipped" a GS300 Sport mk1?

Thinking about getting mine done!

Had my last car done and the garage who fitted that have offered me discount if I get it done as a test bed.

It really worked on my last car but that was turbo. just made everything smoother B) better petrol and made it dive more civil! (as civil as 340bhp with front wheel drive can be  )

Also just got my Gs Fully serviced and they told me my AIR CON system is shot need a complete new system! pieps leaking etc etc. only wanted it filling :crybaby:

Any help please folks.

Regards Craig

you can chip it but costs alot of money for little benefit unless you are changing the exhaust and intake and wish to make the most of them.

The GS should be smooth anyway, a chip won't improve that.

Cheers gents for the quick reply's

Was going to change filter and exhaust as well.

The car is fantastic and smooth I guess it's just getting used to a bigger engine again having had a VERY fast turbo. bit slower on the pick up but real world I wouldn't swap back for anything.

Really happy with the car it's just the exhausts look abit. . . err. . .weedy

Don't get me wrong don't want anything silly or to hear it in the car apart from if i'm really going for it :winky:

Do the induction kits work well or like on my last car i'm i best going for K&N panel filters?

I spoke to the garage I brought the car off and asked them just what was covered in the Warranty and It says "certain bits" of the aircon system are covered.

Salesman went all sheepish and said he'll get it looked at. so watch this space.

Is it right the heater only goes down to 16oC?

Do you know if we still get discount at the Nottingham Lexus dealership?member of staff I spoke wasn't sure?

Sorry for all the questions Still getting used to having a fantasic car.

Thank you again

Regards Craig

The GS is not particular fast, but it's smooth enough. Did you consider getting an Aristo (with it's twin turbos, it's rapid)? That sounds more your thing, than spending £££££££ on this model to get all of 10 extra bhp.

Remember, it's a heavy beast to move around. You could get bigger exhaust from Apexi (i think around 500 quid to buy), which might give you a bit more power. You won't get that much more power out of this engine without adding turbos.

Stick with the K&N panel filter.

Yeah, heater only goes down to 16.

Check in gold forums regarding your discount.

Cheers Maneesh

I did think about the Aristo but decided to be sensible :duh: :)

Don't get me wrong never been into the "Maxpower" way of doing things into "subbtle and nice"

Nearly brought a Nissan Cedric 30l t/turbo(zx300 with saloon body) but glad i went for the lexus :D

The Lexus is lovely I think it's a case of just giving the car a chance.

I had my first late night drive in the Lexus last night just as the sun was going down and the roads were quiet had the Massive attack cd play nice and low and it was bliss just cruising.

My misses loved it she never came in the last car because it was a just to quick I think the Aristo would be the same.

I'll stick to how it is and get that a/c sorted.

looked on the Gold members for discount and the website said yes but the gent I spoke to wasn't sure but did say he's get back to me? So finders crossed.

Craig,

Give it time. Once you get used to the effortless drive of a Lexus, you will find it hard to drive anything else. Regd. Lexus Nottingham, are you going to be taking your car to a LEXUS dealer for servicing???? You must have plenty of spare cash then mate!!

Welcome!!

***** No!!!

My local AA centre have looked after my cars for the last 3-4yrs and they are really good and helpful unless it's something really special then there is a specialist(rolling road etc)down the road from where i live.

From Lexus just want some new black mats and clear side repeaters.

Your right about the drive I could have fallen asleep :winky:

last time i was that relaxed I was in a hotel with the wife :whistling::blush:

Nearly brought a newer Lexus but this one just did it for me B)

Hi and welcome :)

The standard ecu is not "chipable" but it is possible to have a mapable piggy back ecu such as the Dastek ecu fitted, which will improve performance (and normally fuel economy on the GS300).

We have done quite a few now with success.

Mark :)

Hi,

As maneesh says your better off keeping your money in your pocket in terms of spending on the GS for performance for your money. You would be better off with a Aristo TT.

Out of interest what car did you have before with 340Bhp and FWD?

chips..

Hi Chips

It was a rover 600 turbo Built by Moto-build had it for 4 years but really started getting silly running on 18" wheelmania jades and a straight through falcon(make exhausts for Aston Matin)Exhaust. new Ecu. very lumpy kent cams it was still running the 20L block. with re-built pistons/valves etc etc cossy fuel pump cossy injecters! dump valve you name it but when the steering rack went that was it. Decided enough was enough! my wife wouldn't ride in it. couldn't take it any distance got sick of the noise. maybe just getting older!! :)

Found myself winding the suspenion(koni)to maxium soft. Roads are crap round here. and everywhere I travel day to day are 40 limits.(cameras).

I was planning on wanting to take to santa pod but everytime I took time something happened with it. :tsktsk: 48831dae.jpg

hopefully that picture should come out a reall street sleeper just as i like them :D

How the hell did the car cope with 340bp going through the front wheels? Did it have any kind of traction control? Some of those Saabs with 250bhp going through the front wheels are considered undriveable due to all the torque steer.

No traction control and a Fait punto in winter

Off the line it was a pig but get it into second and third and it would fly. trick was to feed the power slowly the only problem was that everything you raced would beat the off the line  but as soon as you were going you were away. the scariest time was coming back from birmingham in heavy rain and went to over take a lorry and the front in 5th broke away and started wheel spinning. nearly pushing me into the lorry. :tsktsk:

It got broken into last year and all my dvd player indash screen ps2 etc etc got stolen since then i've been looking for a new car.
