Hi all, just joined up, seems like pretty good forum.

Excuse the username, but I have a Jap car at the moment and it seemed appropriate at the time??? LOL!

I thought i'd join up as i'm in search of a Toyota Altezza RS200 as I've owned my current car nealy 4 years and am in need of a change.

I'm pretty sure i'm going to import my own car, but have to research into it a fair amount before hand as I've never done it before, so if anyone's done it before any help would be much appreciated :winky:

I currently own a nissan pulsar GTi-R running around the 320bhp mark, on an L plate, great fun, but like i say, I need a change now! I've only had two cars, the previous and my first car was a Fiat punto GT Turbo, that was a fun car, that was running 170bhp but just wheel span far too much, hence the change to the 4wd!!

Altezza wont compare to the GTi-R mate.

Are the Pulsars as fettle as people say?

Oh yeah nice name and welcome.

I know it won't on the performance side of things, but in terms of looks and style I think it's pretty smart.

I've owned my pulsar for a long time, The only problems it's had was the gear box, but this was due to a vacuum hose came off & caused the turbo completly overboosted whilst accelerating past 130mph , whilst I thought this was great fun because it was like i launched it off the start line (kick in the back) it stripped 5th gear completley!! So I replaced the whole gearbox.

The transfer box locked up on me, so I replaced that, but if you treat them right you can run 350bhp all day long on a std gearbox no problem at all.

Apart from that the car's fine it's been running for nearly 2 years with that power and no problems at all.

Welcome :)

I know someone else who went from a Pulsar to an Altezza.

While it won't compare in terms of power/acceleration its alot of fun.

PM Ian F with regards to importing, he can tell you few things to look out for :winky:

Cant compare the looks of the Gti-R to the IS or altezza. The bulging bonnet just aint my thing. They go like sh!t of a shovel though as i had a few try it with my cosworth and kept up!

I've raced few 'cossehs' (sapphires, Escorts) in my Altezza.... (ok i have boost) Sometimes neck and neck, other times i would loose boost and loose...

LOL the Cheese Grater as I call it!!!

I know what you mean, after all it's just a sunny with a bodykit, 4wd & a lot of power! I've always thought that, I bought it for the fun not the looks & I have to say it's been awesome & I do recommend them for a fun car.

But it's going up for sale soon & I'll be changing jobs and in search of an Altezza. I've never been one for huge kits and chav like styling so it'll be nice & subtle changes & decent performance & handling mods.

thanks for the welcome & info

Stage 2 escort would leave you for dead it leaves ppp sti's and FQ 340 eating its dirt. Dont forget the weight of these cars. They didnt dominate rallying in the 90's for nothing.
