After a sprited :devil: drive on tuesday night i noticed a burning smell coming from the car(gs300 sport)

Didn't think to much of it thought i'd given it abit of heavy right foot. :driving:

But last night at a much more normal pace i smelt it again and i noticed the temp gauge has dropped a little bit!!!!!

Anybody got any ideas!!! :question::question:

I can't pin it down to where is coming from but i've checked the car over and asked the tyre place yesterday to put it on the ramps and they couldn't find anything.

The car has always smelt hot and 'clicked' when I switch it off. but nothing like this!!!!!!!!! :question:

I had the same symptoms on my GS a few weeks ago, suspected sticking caliper on the rear passenger side. Took it to a friend who is a mechanic, he confirmed it and took the caliper off gave it a good clean and no problems since, only charged me £20, then told me I needed new discs and brake pads.. got them from Prolex UK £133,(with gold discount) and my mate fitted them for me, and cleaned the other caliper as well

Cheers Gent it is what you said and is on the rear passenger side if the brake dust on the wheel is anything to go by.

Think i'm going to order some brake disc and pads and get the whloe lot done together.

Thanks for your help.

Regards Craig.

you need to make sure the caliper is free to slide in and out freely. Normally what happens is water gets past the seal and rusts the sliding pin. You should be able remove, clean up and re-grease.

If you don't do this the same thing will happen again.

I would recommend you check and clean up all the brakes not just the one with a problem and do it every 2 years.

I've just had a burning smell and found that my cambelt had snapped... not good at all.

that doesn't sound good. Hopefully the burning smell was the belt rubbing against something as it started to break down, if that's the case you should just be able to get a pulleys checked and a new belt fitted.
