Annual Pay Review Time Again

<RANT>

It's that time of year again where I get to "look forward" to my annual salary increase taking into account inflation, cost of living increases etc etc.

This year's increase is a whole of 0.52% :duh:

It probably cost them that much just to send the letter notifying me of it.

Cumulative total since I started with this blasted company is that I'm now 11.9% worse off than I started!

That's not including the car allowance in lieu of a company car which hasn't changed at all since I started with the company... So much for the telecommunications manager's union negotiating a so-called 2.9% package for this year.

:tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk:

That doesn't sound fair. Pay should increase at least in line with inflation, otherwise you are losing money.

I suppose the other side of the story is that a lot of firms are struggling to survive, so may take the view that any pay is better than no pay.

Rsarin was telling me an interesting story about Employees in Japan who actually donate some of their salary to their Employers to help run and grow the company. Very strange - I can't imagine that happening in the UK :lol:

Maybe it's time to consider your options if your not currently satisfied. Good luck with whatever you decide :)

Agree vote with your feet.

I did the same 4 years ago, never looked back.
