I've had my new car for 6 weeks and I find the auto change very jerky: there is not a really smooth change up or down and sometimes it really feels as if the gears "drop" suddenly. It's worst when travelling in very slow moving traffic.

The dealer says that the fast change is a feature, but I think it's awful. All of the ads and road tests say "silky smooth", but mine's nothing like that.

Nothing like a BMW, Mercedes or even Ford

Hi and Welcome to LOC :)

Did you not test drive a Auto before you bought your car?

If you did test drive one and yours does`nt drive the same as the demo car then like you say there must be a problem somewhere.

Hopeful someone with the same model car as yours might be able to give you some feedback on theres.

Chips..

My Mk.2 GS used to do this, I put it down to the intelligent auto box not learning my driving style properly. An ECU reset cleared it, problem hasn't recurred in months, touch wood (well, wood veneer).
