Building Regulations

Hi guys

Looking to get a new roof on the house and currently gathering quotes. Got a quote from a builder and he said that new building regulations that came into force in April this year means that changing the tiles from slate to eternit would mean that building control would have to be informed and scaffolding designed among other things which would put the price up by about a grand. :crybaby:

Anyone heard of these new regulations?

Cheers. :D

Thanks mate, tried searching but didn't find much that was written in plain English rather than legal-document-speak!

Another part to the story is that he has offered us the chance to not pay the extra for the new regulations if he submits the date of the job as April before the regulations took effect. Does this sound dodgy?

None of the other builders we have gotten a quote from have even mentioned this!
