Quality Bass For P.i.m.p Ride Required...

Recommended Posts

In my quest to convert my old geezer GS to a half-decent P.I.M.P ride, I require some more bass than the factory system can offer. :D

Seeing as I'm a lazy git too, does anyone know whether it's simple enough to find a powered sub box or tube that simply plugs into the existing wires? Size of box is not a problem, as I've got a 510 litre boot..

How much and where from?

Cheers.

Mate,

You can't just add an extra amp / sub into these cars ......... I know the IS has the built in amp ... and it's a complete nightmare, without changing everything ... including the HU.

I'd imagine the GS is the same ..............

I told you mate, get a screen in there ..... and go the PC route ;)

Cheers for the feedback. From what I've read on the US forums, it's pretty straightforward to do in the GS, don't know how different it is from IS.

You just get a line level converter to take the speaker wires going into the sub, and turn them into RCA outputs.

Then you simply plug into powered sub, and remove existing sub from rear deck so you have a ported boot.

Then sit back and enjoy the booooom!

PC route is preferred option but that will be later this year when I make another trip Stateside to pick up cheap bints  Sorry, I mean bits...

Hi Maneesh,

You might remember my set up from the last Ace Cafe... before that i was running the sub with a line driver off the rear speakers and after changing the headunit id say that the bass quality became much better.

So you might find you end up changing it in the end anyway!

Also id say youre better off going for a seperate sub and amp....as this often means better quality and power, which youll need if the boot is a metal box like on the IS!

Yeah kicker is generally good.

-A friend of mine had two square kicker subs (although his were the highest power!) in his IS and you could hear him coming a mile off!

Not sure about this deal though- been a while since i bought any audio equipment!! :duh:

Here is the link for the shop i used, and they're not too far from Ace either (might need to hagle on price a bit though!). :D
