Rear Break Calipers

Hello everyone,

Just in need of some help.....im trying to remove my rear calipers so i can clean them up and paint them!!! Its probly a simple task but i need to know which bolts im removing from the back of it!! Any help please, just so i dont :tsktsk: it up nd have no breaks!!

leave them on, its far easier

to be honest, if you have to ask which bolts to undo, you shouldnt be even thinking about undoing them (no offence intended)

Non taken, decidied to leave them on cos the bolts are seized solid!!

If you use masking tape and newspaper you can mask off everything that doesn't need paint and do a good job. Thats how I painted mine.

There are two big bolts at the back for removing the caliper assembly but you'd need to get the right torque setting when you put them back on. It's on the site somewhere under the workshop stuff. Also they are are real pain to undo. You need a large breaker bar and possibly to soak them very carefully :crying: in wd40. Get it on the disks and you're stuffed. Far simpler just to leave them on as Bazza suggested.

I painted my front & rear calipers & drums the other week, did not remove, all worked out great. Get a brake caliper paint kit & it comes with a spray cleaner.

Well you were all right, managed to put the first coat of paint on, looking a lot better already!!

Oh and its like its Xmas, just taken delivery of my new alloys :hehe: :D :hehe:

Just gotta get a coat of wax on them then i'll be able to put them on!!!
