On Board Diagnostics On Is250

Recommended Posts

I have recently placed an order on an IS250 SE-L. Does the OBD inform us of faults like fused lights, low coolant or washer fluid level or whether an oil service is due. On the test drive I was impressed at the info screen on the MM but I realise that all it does remind us of programmed event like a glorified memo pad.

Good questions ...

The manual states that we will be reminded of low washer fluid via the small LCD display in the dash. Personally I've never seen it and I'm still on the original fluid from when I purchased the car (done 8500 miles now)!! Must be one giant tank under that bonnet ... which might explain my steady improving fuel economy ... as the washer fluid lowers, MPG goes up

Oil service is only via the memo pad AFAIK.

Fused lights ... hmmm ... can't find a reference ... the IS200/300 used to display a light on the dash if any of the rear lights were blown and "speeded-up" the indicator dash lights if one of those were blown. I can't believe we've gone backwards with the new IS so I would expect something somewhere. Have to say that I've owned 3 lexi (IS200/IS300/IS220d) and never had a blown bulb.
