Dam You Squeaky Brakes

Today has been very hot, windows down, stuck in traffic for hours, start, stop, start, stop... I decided to turn off the radio for once (not cd player as error3 is there :tsktsk: ) and then noticed how loud the stupid squeals where coming from what I believe are the brakes, as everytime I pressed the break... a SCREEECH sound was made, after a hour of this I nearly wanted to cry... How can I cruise in this beautiful car with this awful sound, usually i have the music up loud but now I've realised just how bad it is I must do something about it.

Anyone have any solutions?

^^

I read about applying some copper grease between the caliper and pad, where can i get this?

How can I check the brake pads etc as well?

^^

Cuz I'm guessing there pretty worn as well by now and could be another solution i'm hoping.

You can buy copper grease from Halfords it usually around the brake pads for a couple of quid if the pads are worn out there is usually a contuinuous screeching noise when driving to warn you that they are on the way out hope that helps.

You cant actually see the pads through the top of the caliper (i just checked on mine) however if you take the wheel off you get a reasonable idea from the side.
