Brakes, Clutch And Service, Other Than At Lexus Dealer ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My IS200 is making the good old "thrust bearing squeek" and i have been quoted £512 from Oxford Lexus, Also i want to check/Replace the pads and may aswell have a mini service at the same time.

Does anyone know where other than at the Lexus Main Dealer that I can take her to. Near Oxford or surroundng areas,

The car has lexus history but £512 seems expensive for just one job.

Import Specialist, Lexus Specialist or bite the bullet and go to Lexus.

Recomendations!

Many Thanks

I am a stickler for Main Dealer service (my 1998 Primera GT has a full main dealer service @ 112,000 miles) but I think, unless you have had exceptionally good service from the Lexus dealer in Oxford and want to maintain a relationship (for future purchases) etc then I'd go somewhere else...a good local specialist will do you an honest job and they are pretty straightforward cars to work on compared to some.

Sorry I can't offer a recommendation (I'm in Central Scotland) but it would not worry me seeing a non-lexus stamp in the service book of an IS200.

Brian :)

£512! :o did you cough?! Alot of money that mate. Take it a trusted local repair centre, again, sorry I cant advise on where.

The brake pads are easier enough to change your self. Little confidence and bare minimum mechanical knowledge needed.

I switched from Main Dealers after the 100K cambelt change. Now use Nationwide Autocentres (there'll be one near you). Had 3 services from them; all fine, great prices. Computer database for all Lexus parts information and servicing and repair procedures. Recent intermediate service + MOT was £120 (+750 free Tesco Clubcard points!)
