Hi

Seems to be a lot of experienced people in this furom and maybe someone can help me. For a few ohurs ago something happened on my dashboard. The oilwarning/handbrakesign/backlightwarning start lightning up. The rpm indicator and fuelconsumption went dead. About 100m from nearest Toyota/Lexus dealer, I went strait in.

They had a look at it. They went through all fuses, took off the whole dashboard but still couldn't find anything. The oil was ok and the computer couldn't find anything.

There was electricity into the dashboard and the indicators worked well when testing them through the computer. Funny/strange thing. What have the backlight indicator and oilwarning in common?. Nothing I believe, but it all happened at the same time.

Now I'm home again and I had to call them tomorrow again. They thought it was safe to drive the car anyway. They where not that familiar with Lexus models as there are very few of them at this place. (Norway). Do anybody been into this problem before?

I think all the things on the dash like warning lights, MPG meter, Rev Counter are controlled by the ECU. As the car was still running OK, I guess it may be a wiring loom/connector problem - just guessing though.

For your info!

Just had a phonecall with Lexus Oslo, the main dealer for Lexus in Norway. They said they have experienced this before and the cause was low/bad Battery. Nice to know if this happen later.

In case, I will try recharging the Battery or just buy a new one. In these cold month with temp. down to -15'C and all heaters on, the charger have problems to keep up when you are out driving for just 30min....

Thought you would know
