80k Service Costs

Hi people,

I'm after a bit of advice.

My IS2 is due an 80K service soon, I have sent an email to 2 different local Lexus dealers regarding the cost. So far only one dealer has got back to me quoting that a cost of a 80K service is going to cost me £435 inc vat and labour. Does this seem like a fair price? I'm waiting for the 2nd dealer to get back to me, if they are cheaper, then they will be servicing the IS2.

I am also thinking as the car is now 5 years old and I intend to keep it for another 4-5 years it is worth while buying all the bits I need from Lexus and find a good local garage to do the work. If I was to do this, what parts do I need? As far as I can tell, the 80K service like the 40K service, so I'm assuming I need the following parts: oil filter, engine oil, diff oil, pollen filter and coolant. Is there anything else I need?

I also enquired about the cost of a cam belt change, with tensioners, I have been quoted £550! Having done a quick search I have noticed that some of you guys have paid anything from £300-£600 for a cam belt change. Although my car isn't 6 years old until October, I wanted to get a ballpark figure for the cam belt change cost. I think I am going to buy the parts for the cam belt change from Lexus and get a good local garage to do the work.

Thanks

Guys,

The 2nd Lexus dealer has just got back to me, 80K service is going to cost £335 inc. vat and cam belt change is going to cost £490 inc vat, slightly cheaper than the 1st dealer.

Have decided to source the parts from Lexus and get a local garage to do the work, Lexus labour rates are too steep now that the car is 5/ nearly 6 years old.

Thanks

I had mine serviced by Ford for it's 80k and they did a fine job, I'm not too bothered about the service history as the car won't be worth much when i sell it anyway. The only catch was i had to buy the service parts myself have a look at this thread/post.

I don't know how close a Lexus dealer is to you but i would of driven a round trip of 200miles just to get the car serviced so i've also saved all that cash in petrol too about £35.

My service came to about £190 and i didn't need new pads so i saved myself a little anyway as i can keep the pads for a later date.

Ford greased up the door hinges too, does anyone know if that's a standard thing to do now?
