Comma Oil - Good Prices, But Is It Any Good?

Hi guys,

I need some oil for a service now that I have all the bits (big thanks to Prolex-UK for a great service! :D ) and was thinking of Comma Premium Ultra Lite 5w40 Fully Synthetic (Trade Pack). They only charge £21.50 for a 5L bottle.

I am abit late (ahem) with this service, so its only going to be in the car for 6K before the next service is due.

Is Comma oil ok then, or should I stick with the big brands like Mobile, Castrol etc..?

Also is 5w-40 fine to use? I remember reading somewhere that the 0w40 can be abit too thin for a standard IS/Altezza...it was on these forums ages ago!

Thanks,

Anees

Comma is known as a budget brand....as the price indicates. Their products are however subject to the same BSI regulations as other brands.

Try Fuchs Supersyn - they supply oil to Silkolene, high specs and are OEM to Porsche and others. I find that Supersyn is less "rattly" than Mobil No.1 in the MR2

I thought it was only worth using Fully Synthetic oil if it was used from day one.

as the wear will already be there, if it has only had

STD oil from Manufacturer & service centre.

What do they use at the Factory??

This is quite an old thread that I started. But since its been resurected...

I bought the Comma Fully Synthetic and was great. Car very quiet at idle and runs nice and smooth.

For the next service I'll get something better for peace of mind, but it was good for the price. :)
