My wheels are looking a bit tired as they have been refurbed before and not had the corrosion removed!

I have spocken with Spit and Polish who I know would do a great job however I thought I would ask if anyone has any experiance of them or any other company, time they take, cost, quality of work etc

I am also tempted at having the chrome effect so has anyone had chrome plating done?

Many thanks

not sure on chroming, ive only ever had chroming done on steel, polishing is more common in the Uk for alloy, but it would need to be treated good.

regards the refurb, there are many places, if your handy you could do it yourself, otherwise if your happy with the original look of the wheels, id consider getting them powder coated, as thats a far more durable finish

I had my wheels refurbished by a local powder coating company

it cost me £100 to have all 4 wheels shot blasted and powder coated black

(the was no kurb marks to be taken out off the wheels though)

but your be surprised at all the colours the are and the finishes that can be achieved

Hi

Do Spit and Polish just refurb alloys or can they straighten them out as 1 of my alloys has gone a tiny bit egg shaped as the bloke told me when he tried to balance them and at what cost would i be looking at

if not does anyone know where i can get this done

Andy

The guys at the place I went were able to repair some kerb damage (not done by me!). But if a rim is "egg-shaped" i.e. as if it has been dropped, then I think you're looking at a new wheel. Even if it were possible to straighten it out you would end up with stress fractures in the metal, with obvious safety implications. In any case, the chances of them getting it to run true are pretty slim.

Good luck though...

I used them a while ago on GS standard sport wheels and the laquer failed just after a year so could not get them to refurb again under guarantee.

I then came across Lepson's. In my opinion their workmanship is far superior. I used them to refurb my spare set of GS sport wheels and have been very pleased with results.
