Hi I have been trying to find the answer to my problem for a while and to no avail, can anyone here point me in the right direction. Basically it looks like my CD Changer has packed up on my mk1 gs300 is searched through disks and then I hyst get ERR code. I would like to swap it for a newer model changer, are there any that I can swap mine for easily, pioneer make, do I need a new cable making up or is it as simple as just swapping over? As far as I can tell there original changers are very dated technology and not worth the hassle so I was thinking just replace with a newer one and im back in business. What are my options? some car audio places I call up just say, "we dont touch Lexus" Not verry helpful! So please help. Thanks,

What I would try first is to remove the changer you have in the boot. Take a picture of the male socket that goes into the CD Changer. Then take the changer plus the pic to an in car Audio specialist as they will be able to determine if there is anything available to replace the old CD changer.

I had a 7 series BMW that I done this with and the Audio specialist was able to supply special cables and a changer that worked!

If you can post the pics up here also and I'll see what I can do.

It could be dust on the laser in which case, try one of those CDs that cleans the laser

Alternatively, it could be your disc is scratched too badly to play

If the CD changer truly is knackered, you CAN only use the CD changer that was designed for the car's factory system. No other CD changer will work directly with the Lexus cables. A replacement from Lexus costs hundreds and hundreds of quid. You might find one from a breaker's yard?

Finally, you could use a CD changer that plugs in using FM modulator to replace the Lexus one. SOund quality will be worse though.

If CDs are important to you, and it's truly busted, I would rip out the factory system, put a double din housing and plug in a 4x50w new system which has DVD/MP3/CD/FM capability with the LCD screen. Not too expensive off eBay.

this may seem a stupid question but are you trying to play 'burnt' cd's? Some/many copied cd's wont play through the changer.

HI I am just trying to play normal CD's not any copied ones, in reply to the previous post I will get the Changer out of the boot next week as I am off work then and post some pics. I will let you know how I get on, there must be quite a few people that will have this CD changer problem and if we find a soloution then we can post it for all future owners with problems to find out about. In the meantime if anyone has overcvome the CD changer braking down problem before then post details please, all the best and thanks for the replies!
