Is200 Alloys

Recommended Posts

They'll still be covered under the cars warranty, had mine swapped by Notts as well, just ring them and they'll book you in and change all five alloys with refurbs :)

Also may be worth trying Gary at Lexus Sheffield to see if he'll sort them for you as it's nearer :)

Bought car Nov 05 and had Lexus Notts replace all 4 alloys for corroding.

I have noticed recently small areas of white'ish discolouration to front alloys, I wash car including wheels every weekend.

Before I ring Lexus again just wondered if anyone knows the official Lexus policy on this ???

Keep taking them back. Some peeps have had three sets or more. Mine is on the second set and they are just starting to show the white corrosion two years after fitting, would probably have been earler had I not taken them off the car and given them two extra coats of lclear laquer. ;)

I had the set changed on my IS200 and IS300, and after the change they were fine. The new ones were also easier to clean.

Will get them to check again as it is due its service soon,

are they just covered by the standard 3 year warranty or have Lexus extended the alloy warranty period as it is a known fault ???

AFAIK it's a known fault, any Lexus dealer should change them, although somebody on the forums did have a problem after buying from a non-Lexus dealer.

Standard 3 year warranty I believe, but Lexus will supply refurbs anyway, not new. I've got three sets now between the 250 & 200 so I'll get my original 17" IS200 wheels refurbed ready for when the original IS250 wheels on the IS200 start to corrode and go back to the dealer for replacement

I am on my 3rd set of these now

The last set only lasted 6 months before going 'milky'.

The chap at Grimsby told me to take a note of when the wheels were replaced and the wheels should then have a 3yr warranty. If new wheels corrode within 3 years then get them replaced again.

Sounds about right to me anyway.
