Jaguar X-type

I've just been in a 06Reg Jaguar X-Type 2.0D SE today and all i have to say is, what an awfull car!. If you like cheap nasty interiors buy this car you'll be in plastic heaven, even the steering wheel is plastic with buttons taken off my Playstation 2 controller all clunky and harsh!. The only good thing about this Jag was the fact that controlling the air-con, radio, mobile phone etc is nicely put onto a touch-screen type system that is very simple and clear to use and even that's an "option". I can not comment on the performance as we only went around the car park. Has anyone else been in a newer X-Type if so what did you think of it?

I drove a 2001 X-type Sport and yeah.. pants inside

outside looks quite alright.. seats were ok... but the rest was horrid.

Close the door and it sounds like a door off a mk II Escort slamming.

No quality whatsoever.

I have ALWAYS thought that jags were overrated as far as being quality cars goes - unless you can go back 40 years +

Colleague of mine once had one of the brand new biggish saloons...cant remember the model, but about 10 years ago I guess, and the only thing I can remember about it when I swopped for the day was how godamn awful the starter motor sounded as it clunked its way through getting the engine going

Boy was I glad to get my E300 back next morning :)

I too tried the Xtype before going for Lexy, and was not impressed, I thought it was way too noisy for a so called high end car.

Yep....they share a LOT of components including the chassis with a Mondeo, although people "in the know" reckon that the Mondeo is actually bettr, and a fine car
