Kerbed Alloy Wheel

I thought I would share this with the forum.

A couple of weeks ago I kerbed one of the alloys against one of those speed restriction obstacles - around 3 inches of alloy rim shaved off.

I looked into a number of alloy refurbishing companies, but most required around a week to do the work and me having to use the silly spare wheel in the meantime.

So I decided to try Wicked Wheels, which do the job at your address in their van - complete with taking the wheel off, removing the damage, filling it in, painting and baking it.

The guy has just been - it took him 25 mins from start to finish and I cannot tell where the repair was - it's that good a job. It cost me £80 inclusive.

I am not sure they would have been able to repairs on my previous IS200's alloys, as those were some kind of polished aluminium, but the IS250 wheels are normal.

Just kerbed my f/n/s Hoshi which Lexus Nottm.are collecting from my home & sorting:will let you know the price BUT the process takes 5 hrs & the tyre bead is removed from the rim!

The smoked-mirror finish on the Hoshi has to be applied by a specialist Wheel Renovator that Lex Nottm & BumW use.

£80 sounds a bit steep but I suppose you don't have to pay carriage costs and you can watch the work being done.

If the wheel was sent away you would probably pay £50 for a basic refurb and £15 to have the rim rebuilt then carriage at around £15.

Finaly found the pics of the Lex wheels

Sparkle silver on the outside and a subtle shade darker on the inside. You could easaly go darker and they would look stunning but i was trying to get them to look origional without having them diamond cut and going scabby v quickly again

Personally I think the new 18" wheel looks like the evolution of the original IS200 17".

To my mind, the the multi-spoked style suites the side-profile of the new IS & the smoked -chrome finish has real class.Lexus Nottingham were so impressed with the set-up they "modified" a Demo even fitting the then newly launched mud-flaps.
