guys, is there a guide anywhere on the web which will tell you how much NI a self employed person earning x amount a week would need to pay.....

You may already know, but.....I pay the ludicrous sum of £10.50 per month. Then, at end of year, you pay a % of your income.

there are ways where you can pay a few quid without putting your NI at risk

Also remember that when you pay NI your company must pay the same amount. Basically NI is paid twice by the company. If you paid £40 NI then the company has to also pay £40.. so they see £80

dont hold me on self employed though.

thanks.... one more thing peter where is the source of your info..

It's all in that HMRC link that I posted mate.

Did you know that your local tax office do free workshops that talk you through most of this. Also depending on your earnings and circumstances you may not have to pay class 2 or class 4. Ring up and ask to talk to the business support unit!

Sound advice as the definition of "self employed" can get a bit vauge as well and you may fall foul of IR35.
