Replacing Radio/gps Console On 98 Ls400

Hi,

I have just bought a Japanese import 98 LS400 with useless GPS/radio console. Would it be sensible to replace the whole console with one from an American LS400 assuming that this would be plug compatible? Would a US console radio tune in to British radio frequencies? Presumably a UK navigation disk could be loaded in to the GPS? or would I just be exchanging one set of problems for another?

hmmm, not too sure, that's something i've heard of doing before.

my cost effective suggestion would be:

1. order a single din/double din housing that would fit into your dash seamlessly in place of your current unit (25 quid)

2. put a regular car stereo/cd player/dvd screen into new housing (from 100 quid)

3. buy tomtom/garmin aftermarket sat nav (from 100 quid)

you could probably get away with spending 225 quid..although I'd advise spending more on a decent stereo.

could you not put a uk unit in as it may be better but other wise i would say the same as maneesh but you may have to make up your own wiring as i had to on my mk3 for the computer

and what colour is yours i might have seen you around as i drive the sliver mk3 around chatham
