:excl: I know this is 250 thread, but....I would still go for the "tank ave" over at least half a tank to make a fair assessment.

The biggest problem with taking a reading of "38mpg at a steady 70mph" is that the gradient, the air temperature, number of people in the car, road surface, tyre pressures etc all play a part, and in that situation, it could be different, same car same speeds same road on different days....

I do an identical regular run to Essex. Some days I get 42mpg in the diesel, some days 38mpg, all at similar speeds for the enture journey. Some Dual carriage way runs with cruise show 60mpg, and some down to 22mpg on the histograms or If I reset the "ave" reading.
