BLOOMING HELL ive got a while to go on mine my 200 is on an X plate and only covered 41`000 miles , glad it was a 63 yr old lady that it from new before me , you can imagine my delight when i saw it advertised FSH and MOTs to prove milage :D

You still need to have your timing belt changed or at least checked, its not just a mileage thing, you need to consider the age of the belt. Your car is on a 'X' plate, so it was probably registered in 2000/2001? Do you know if its had its timing belt changed?

That's why the timing belt should be changed at 100k or 6 years, whichever comes first. Your car is proabably 6 years old now?

The interval time was changed by Lexus I believe, from 100k/10years to 100k/6 years. Some people have got their belts changed at 60k for peace of mind. You also need to have the tensioner and idler changed as well as the timing belt itself.

I'm looking at getting mine done very soon, only done 60K but is 6yrs old. Better be safe than sorry.

I will be doing it myself so what will I need apart from timing belt, tensioner and idler. How much roughly as I will be buying from the UK as it is difficult to get parts from Lexus over here, they seem to want to do the work and not sell the parts..

Can't remember the cost of each item, but the timing belt, tensioner and idler shouldn't cost more than £100-£120 all in.

Am in same situation witha a 2001 X-reg.

Deales are expensive (as you would expect). Thats why I started to look about for a Lexus specialist, and hence we now have a GOLD discount with one in SE London.

ABM motors are about £250 - depends on if you also then want tensioner etc done. May as well get water pump done too whilst they have everything off!

Oh, thought I read on here ages ago that water pump was driven by same belt, so if a new belt was fitted and tensioner, then the pressure/tension on the pump would be greater, therefore can wear the waterpump bearings quicker!!

If thats not the case, then no worries - woohoo!

So far, along with the timing belt change, I am thinking of tensioner, idler pulley and A/C and water pump belts. Anything else anyone can recommend??

I guess if water pump belt is changed, is it then worth doing the pump too? Can you change water pump easily without having to take it all back off again?

OK, had a quick look, the water pump is not driven off the timing belt, but while peeps are down that way, they may as well change all the belts. And to get to the water pump you need to remove the timing belt. So, if a water pump is not much dosh, it makes sense to change it when you do the cambelt, just incase.

Or, have I missed something? :-)
