Noisy Steering When Cold

After my GS300-2 was cooked in the oven a few days ago, the steering makes a very loud whine when the car is cold - I'm guessing it's something to do with the pump or a belt somewhere?? - does anyone have any advice please??

I get the same on my GS from time to time when cold.

Is it when the steering articulates when you put the key in, or on turning?

the oil may need replacing..........

unlikely but minutely possible the heat may have caused air bubbles to become 1 and has caused a small airlock

Mike - it's when turning (and the noise is just audible when not turning) - it sounds like a belt whine of some kind.

i get it a lil on mine... especially when on full lock

on full lock, it is the bypass on the pump/steering rack

Supercharged is right. The belt must be slipping 'cos the pressure is too high when the fluid is cold.

I would get the belt replaced. They get glazed when they have been slipping.

If memory serves me correct, you have done a high mileage in yours. I'll bet it's the original belt.

Thanks - I'll get the belt looked at - it's just annoying that it was perfect until the paint job I had cos someone else bashed me (and the bodyshop baked the car)

Apparently it helps to have some fluid in there (blush)
